Karl Robert Muse (24) of Nampa died Sept. 2, 2006 in Rock Springs, Wyoming doing the thing he loved best: riding his dirt bike with friends. Karl was born May 18, 1982 in Roseville, California to Robert D. and Linda L. (McMullen) Muse. He moved to Nampa on August 1, 1989, attended Nampa Schools and graduated from Nampa Christian High School in 2000. Karl worked for seven years at Copies Plus.

Leland and Patricia Gilbertson, the previous owners of Copies Plus during the time of Karl’s employment, described Karl as follows:

"Karl was a spectacular young man that we loved with all our hearts. We considered him more like family than we did an employee—in fact, Lee and I often talked about adopting the boy. Karl was honest, respected, well-liked, and had the highest of integrity. Customers still come in to Copies Plus asking about him. Karl was a rare treasure that we were blessed to know, and will truly miss."

Karl continually recognized Nampa Christian for the essential role that it played in his development, routinely stating that “attending Nampa Christian was the best thing I ever did in life.”

Despite financial pressures which rendered Karl’s family virtually incapable of allowing him to attend NCHS his senior year, Karl found a way to make it happen: washing tables in the cafeteria during the lunch hour.

In honor of Karl, his family and classmate Todd Fulcher have created the Karl Muse Scholarship Fund, an endowment that will annually sponsor the entire tuition of one student in need of financial assistance. Living Water Book Store & Coffee House has graciously agreed to provide a copy of best-selling devotional book Messy Spirituality to any donors that contribute $100 or more to the scholarship, and Dan Westmark of Westmark Financial Services has offered to assemble this fund free of charge for Nampa Christian Schools. Approximately one-fifth of the $50,000 goal has been committed (the interest of which, at an annual rate of 12%, will provide the monies needed to annually sponsor the full tuition of one student on an ongoing basis).

If you are interested in making a donation to the Karl Muse Scholarship Fund, please make your check or money order payable to Nampa Christian Schools (Attn: Karl Muse Scholarship Fund) at the following address:
