football team posingAs we look back on the 2007 season and consider the unique journey we shared together, I recall the many afternoons in the weight room, our Huddle group meetings, the summer passing camps, the hours of padded and non-padded practices, the heat, the sweat, the pre-game and post-game planning sessions, Saturday morning films, our first Homecoming game, the pre-game motorcycle processions, the pre-game devotions shared and the post-game prayers offered, the games on Thursday and Friday nights, and the emotions we shared over the course of the 2007 season.

For the second time in three years we found ourselves in the 2A State Semi-Finals, but this time, instead of playing in the mud in Kamiah, we had a chance to play in the air- conditioned Kibbie Dome in Moscow. Our journey together this year was truly special, as we learned a lot about sharing and caring for each other, and how fortunate we were to come together as a family.

football players with trophyOur Junior Varsity program this year ended the season with a 7 & 1 record and were Champions of the 2A WIC conference.

Our Varsity program this year ended the season with a 9 & 2 record, were Champions of the 2A WIC conference and played in the 2A state Semi-Finals. 16 players were selected to the 2A WIC All-Conference Team. Four players (Bryce May, Brady Lawrence, Josh Miller & Eli Kamplain) were selected First Team All-state and one was selected Second Team All-State (Dustin Kamper). We also had three seniors selected to participate in the East - West Shriner’s All-Star game, the day after Thanksgiving.

We will truly miss the 7 seniors who will graduate this spring. They led by example and were a joy to coach. Next fall, we will have 14 returning varsity starters from last season, along with the support of a strong and confident JV program. We look forward with anticipation to the opportunities that await us in the 2008 football season.

OUR GOALS FOR THE 2008 SEASON

There are no real secrets to success. Success in anything has one fundamental aspect – effort.
This year, 3 points separated us from an undefeated regular conference season. Just one point separated us from playing for the 2A State Championship on the blue turf of Boise State University.
Being a champion takes effort…..commitment and preparation, attention to detail, dedication in the weight room and classroom, along with getting proper nutrition and sleep each day, and most importantly a daily surrender to God’s will for our lives through prayer and devotion….but, that is just a proper way to live, regardless of whether you are playing football or not.

As your Head Coach, I promise that I will not expect anything more from the athletes on our team, than what I am willing to commit to myself. My daily goal is to seek God’s direction in my actions and attitudes, to seek His will for my life, and I pray that God will help me to have a humble and caring attitude in the leadership opportunities I am given.

Go Trojans!
