  • NCS Announces New Middle School Principal
Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Thomas Donovan has been selected as the next Middle School Principal [ ... ]

Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Thomas Donovan has been selected as the next Middle School Principal, beginning in the coming 2022-2023 school year. Having received his undergraduate degree from Trinity Christian College and his Master in Educational Administration from Concordia University Irvine, Thomas began as a Middle School educator in 2011 teaching Math and P.E. Since then Thomas has filled both the Middle School Assistant Principal and Principal positions in Escondido, California.

Thomas and his wife Adrienne both graduated from Calvin Christian School where their children currently attend. The Donovans will make the move to Idaho this summer where they will join family friends who are already part of the NCS family.  We trust that it was the Lord’s leading and timing that brought the Donovan family to apply to attend NCS and then to apply for the Middle School Principal position that later became available. Adrienne and Thomas received a sound foundation of a Biblical worldview as children and have continued their commitment to Christian Education not only through their time at university but in what they have chosen for their own children.  We are excited about the Donovan family's arrival this summer.  Their daughters Evelyn (10), Lillian (9), and Vera (5) will be joining us as NCS Trojans this fall.

Thomas Donovan had these words to share “My family and I feel incredibly blessed for the opportunity to begin our life in Idaho as part of the Nampa Christian Community. I trust that God has providentially brought me to this place and I hope to make a positive impact in the lives of students for His glory.”

Dr. Wiles had these words to share, “Dr. Jenn Cornell has done an amazing job at NCS and we are saddened to see her leave NCS as an administrator, however, I know she is destined to continue to make an impact on God's Kingdom and education with her work at NNU and her partnership as a parent. We are very proud of all her hard work and accomplishments. As we look to the season ahead we are also excited to bring on Thomas Donovan. He has a great background in Christian Education and a lot of years as a middle school teacher, coach, and administrator. Mr. Donovan already has made several connections with NCS staff through the years and we are blessed to have him as our next middle school principal.”

  • NCS Announces New Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Randy Brothers has accepted the position of Varsity Girls Basketball [ ... ]

Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Randy Brothers has accepted the position of Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. Randy is no stranger to Nampa Christian Schools, having had three sons graduate from NCS and a daughter who is currently a sophomore. Randy’s grandson who now attends Kindergarten at NCS will be the second generation to come through. Coach Brothers brings years of experience working with students.  He spent 22 years in the classroom both in public school at Kuna, as well as teaching three years of chemistry and physics here at Nampa Christian, before resigning to focus on running his family car dealership with his wife, Lisja.

Randy has been coaching since 1993 and his experience includes 15 years of varsity boys' basketball (as well as years of frosh level, AAU, and even youth basketball), high school cross country, and boys' and girls' track and field, with many trips to State, as well as a couple of State track titles.  In 2012 they made the decision to move their family from the public school in Kuna, where Randy had grown up, to Nampa Christian.  Following this move, Randy coached varsity boys' basketball from 2012 to 2018, with the Trojans going state for four consecutive years prior to his departure from NCS.

Coach Brothers had these words to share, “Nampa Christian has been a huge blessing to our family, with our oldest two sons meeting and marrying neat ladies that they graduated with as well.  We appreciate the Christ-centered atmosphere that is encouraged at our school.  When I retired from coaching the boys' basketball team in 2018, I really felt like I was done coaching, and needed to start a new chapter in my life.  God has shown me that it's not time yet. I truly do still have a passion for competition and for teaching. Turns out I didn't even have a year off from coaching, as they needed some help in our daughter's middle school program. In 2019, 2020, and 2021 I coached middle school girls' basketball at NCS, with last year's eighth graders taking the District title (our current freshman class). I am excited to be taking on the position of varsity girls' basketball coach for NCS, where I hope to bring out the best we have to give, playing competitively and passionately, while building great character as well as lasting memories.  I appreciate Nampa Christian giving me this opportunity.”

  • NCS Announces New Head JV Boys Basketball Coach
Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Derrick Fleck has accepted the position of Head JV Boys Basketball C [ ... ]

Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Derrick Fleck has accepted the position of Head JV Boys Basketball Coach (better known as Fleck by those close to him). Having had a great experience last year as part of the program with Frosh/JV-B, Derrick is thrilled to begin to expand and grow the JVA program right along with our growth as a school.

He and his wife Danielle have been married for 23 years and have 2 amazing children, Judah (17) & Zoe (14). Judah is a current senior at NCS and will be heading on to Grand Canyon University in Arizona after graduation. Zoe is currently a freshman and has played Volleyball and basketball here at NCS.

Coach Fleck brings lots of Basketball experience as a player and a coach, having played from junior high through College on many different levels. While playing at Simpson University, he was named MVP and voted All-American for our NAIA division school.  After graduating with my BA in Liberal Studies, he took on the role of Coordinator for Summer ministries, Associate Pastor for Student Life & Assistant Coach for the varsity women’s team at Simpson.  In 2002, the ladies' team he helped coach won the National Championship for Christian Colleges in the NCCAA division (Proud coach moment!). With his experience on traveling teams to Hong Kong and China and having coached/played on the international level against Pro/Semi-pro athletes Nampa Christian Schools is thrilled to have Coach Fleck on board.

Coach Fleck had this to say, “I love basketball and have tremendous respect for the game. I have been around it in so many ways for the past 30 years and my passion is just as strong now as it was when I was learning how to shoot in my backyard. To see young men succeed in this sport is amazing, however, to see them become the men of God that they were called to be is even more important! Basketball is something in this life that is here today and can be gone tomorrow….our life and relationship with God is Eternal! It is my passion to bring young men to a point where they understand that the gifts they have are because of the God we serve, therefore, everything we do….everything….is because of our Father in Heaven! I can’t wait for this season and to see how these young men will grow in skill,  passion for the game, humbleness, and love for their God like they’ve never had before!”

Nampa Christian Schools welcomes Rich Hopkins as the coach for our new Clay Target Team. He and his wife Anneke and their two daughters were finally able to relocate to the area this past summer, coming to us from Redding in Northern California. Rich has had a variety of coaching experiences since 2018, coaching as an assistant coach in middle school softball and high school football, and as the head coach of a prior clay target team. Rich is currently “retired” after serving 26 years in the fire service which was all in God’s timing. In addition to his passion for clay target shooting, which was “love at first shoot”, Rich is an avid Supercross/Motocross fan, and loves great mystery shows and movies, his favorite being Columbo! It is rumored that whenever the Hallmark Mysteries & Movies channel has a new Aurora Teagarden Mystery movie on, he can be found bundled up on the couch intensely watching while enjoying a nice hot cup of chai green tea...remember, this is only a rumor!

Rich had this to say: “My family and I are so happy to be here in Idaho, we are definitely here to preserve and not change. I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity, honor, and privilege to share my passion for clay target sports with the student-athletes within the family of Nampa Christian Schools.”

We couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”

When reflecting on this new season of life Briana had this to share, “I’m so excited to share my love for softball and bring my technical skills and knowledge of the game to Nampa Christian. The school-level competition is the first round in the annual National Geographic GeoBee, a geography competition designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Questions cover not only geography, but also cultures, physical features, history and earth Science.

The National Geographic Society developed the GeoBee in 1989 in response to concern about the lack of geographic knowledge among young people in the United States. Over more than three decades, 120 million students have learned about the world through participation in the GeoBee.

School champions, including Eden, will take an online qualifying test; up to 100 of the top test scorers in each state then become eligible to compete in their State GeoBee. The winners of the State GeoBees receive an all-expenses-paid trip to National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., next May to participate in the GeoBee national championship, competing for cash prizes, scholarships and an all-expenses-paid Lindblad expedition to the Galápagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavour ll. Learn more at www.natgeobee.org.

In addition to the GeoBee, National Geographic also offers classroom resources, student experiences and professional development opportunities for educators.

(Nampa, ID – 08/02/2018) – Superintendent Dr. Greg Wiles announced today that Nampa Christian Schools earned accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). All three of these are accreditation divisions of AdvancED.  This action was taken at the AdvancED Accreditation Commission meeting held on June 18, 2018.

NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI provide nationally-recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance.  To earn accreditation, schools must meet high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement.

“Accreditation demonstrates to our students, parents and community that we are focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation staffed by highly qualified educators,” stated Superintendent Dr. Greg Wiles.

NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI accreditations are recognized across state lines, which not only eases the transfer process as students move from accredited school to accredited school but also assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED, the parent organization of SACS CASI, stated, “SACS CASI Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners.  Nampa Christian Schools is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”

Parents and interested community members can learn more about accreditation at www.advanc-ed.org.

Megan Yett and Kennedi Evans added to 2018 roster

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah head volleyball coach Beth Launiere has announced the addition of two signees set to join the Utes in the fall of 2018. Megan Yett (Caldwell, Idaho) and Kennedi Evans (Twin Falls, Idaho) have both signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Utes.

Yett joins the team following a four-year prep career as an outside hitter at Nampa Christian High School where she tallied 1,841 kills, 359 service aces and 187 total blocks. She tallied 511 kills, 200 aces, 478 digs and 31 total blocks just this past season as a senior, breaking school single-season records in both aces and digs on the way. She helped guide her team to a second consecutive 2A state championship in October, registering 36 kills in the four-set final.

Yett, who was named to the AVCA Under Armour Watch List earlier this season, is a two-time Idaho Press Tribune Player of the Year (2015, 2016), a three-time 2A Western Idaho Player of the Year (2014, 2015, 2016) and a three-time 2A Western Idaho Conference first team selection. She is the daughter of Michele and Curtis Yett and has two siblings, Tayler and Caden. Her sister, Tayler, was an assistant coach at NCHS. She played club volleyball for Idaho Crush.

"Megan is 6-1 outside hitter that is both physical at the net offensively and a tremendous passer," said Launiere. "Her natural passing abilities make her a treasured six-rotation player that can impact the match from both front row and back row. She is a tremendous athlete that jumps well and moves effortlessly with a great arm swing. We are so happy to have her in our program and believe she will be a tremendous passing, outside hitter in the Pac-12 and an invaluable player for Utah volleyball."

  • NCHS Volleyball Wins Ninth State Title
Curtis Johnson couldn’t have written it up any better. Johnson watched as Megan Yett ended her prolific Nampa C [ ... ]

Curtis Johnson couldn’t have written it up any better.

Johnson watched as Megan Yett ended her prolific Nampa Christian career in style.

The senior middle hitter delivered Nampa Christian the ninth title in program history with one of her patented spikes. The Trojans beat Malad in four sets 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19 to walk away with their second straight 2A state championship at Lakeland High in Rathdrum.

“It’s awesome. Our kids worked so hard this year,” Johnson said. “There was definitely more pressure this year because they felt like they had the target on their backs after winning it last year. But they were more than up for the challenge and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Yett recorded a game-high 36 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Madison Bowers added another 10 kills, while fellow sophomore outside hitter Ella de Jong chipped in with eight kills.

Senior libero Annetta de Jong tallied 14 digs and senior setter McKaylee Kuntz netted 34 assists.

The win capped off a perfect season for Nampa Christian. The Trojans finished with an impeccable 30-0 record. Along with the flawless record, they won their seventh consecutive 2A District III championship and extended a 2A Western Idaho Conference winning streak to 47 wins.

It’s a streak that goes back four and a half years.

“That’s pretty special,” Johnson said. “People stepped up this year and took on bigger roles on the team than in years past. We were a better team this year than we were last year, no doubt. The kids will all say the same thing.”

Nampa Christian controlled the first two sets with relative ease but ran into a bit of a roadblock in the third. The Dragons led most of the way and became just the third team in the tournament to take a set off the Trojans.

But according to Johnson it was a good thing.

“We got a little complacent but that was OK,” Johnson said. “It was almost a blessing in disguise because then they came out and throttled them.

“The seniors told me afterwards they weren’t ready to be done yet and wanted to play another set anyway. So they had a really good demeanor about the whole thing.”

Nampa Christian turned around and cruised in the fourth. They never trailed and Yett put the finishing touches on her Trojan career with a kill that probably left a bruise on the opposing Malad player’s hands.

It’s a career that spanned four years with three 2A WIC Player of the Year awards and a pair of state titles. A knee injury caused Yett to miss a few games for the first time in her career. It also caused her numbers to take a bit of a dip.

But the Utah commit returned at the state tournament to show everyone she hadn’t lost a step.

“Megan showed up. She finally played some good volleyball,” Johnson said. “She brought it and it was cool.

“She had the final kill which was perfect. After the match I just told her thank you for everything. She’s been fun to watch. There’s been no one else that I’ve seen that’s played quite like that.”

Nampa Christian Schools Educational Adherence To Deuteronomy 6:5-7

The average American student spends about 6½ hours a day for 180 days a year in school. 1 That's about 1,170 hours a year. This may vary from state to state and according to each grade level, but even with conservative estimates, it accounts for just under half of a typical student's waking hours when school is in session. There are many who advocate increasing the number of instructional hours a student receives each year. The argument is that if you spend more time on something, the result is usually better. While this is an interesting debate to consider, a question worth asking is, “Spending time on what?”

For those of the Christian faith, the Bible answers this question for us. The Israelites were given a charge in Deuteronomy 6:5-7.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

It was the expectation that children be taught about God. This was not something relegated to an hour on Sunday morning, but throughout the day, every day. Children were to be taught about God’s commands and statutes every waking moment. This sounds a lot like the environment that is present in the Christian school setting. It stands in stark contrast to what is seen in today’s public schools.

Consider Nampa Christian Schools. Between 1900 and 1950, small Christian schools dotted the Treasure Valley. Among these were elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. In the 1950s, three of these schools united together to become what is known today as Nampa Christian Schools. For over 50 years now, Nampa Christian Schools has faithfully carried out the charge given in Deuteronomy.

    Spanning the Generations

Nampa Christian Schools has motivated generations of students to achieve academic excellence and prepare for a lifetime of service to Christ. Throughout the years since Nampa Christian was established, there have been many success stories and graduates who have gone on to serve God in great ways. With more than 800 alumni still living within the Nampa/Boise area, this provides a rich heritage for the Nampa Christian Schools community.

Deep roots spread and multiply. Alumni have now chosen Nampa Christian to educate their children. Grandchildren of alumni currently attend the school. Generations upon generations have chosen Nampa Christian Schools, showing that their commitment to the school and community are far-reaching. This echoes Deuteronomy 6:2, “and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the LORD your God as long as you live.”

    Church-Family-School Partnership

Nampa Christian Schools is a biblically based learning community that partners with Christian families to develop a Christian worldview and prepare students for a lifetime of faithfulness to Christ, all while promoting academic excellence. Its goal is to develop Christ-like character and Christ-centered lives.

This charge given by God through Moses requires a wholehearted commitment and constant diligence. Educating a child requires a partnership. Impressing God’s commands indelibly on the hearts of children happens in a variety of settings. Jeff and Tracey Antosh, whose children have attended Nampa Christian — two graduates and another now in high school — provide a first-hand perspective of this partnership: “As a result of partnering with Nampa Christian, our church, and home in the education of our kids, they have been challenged and have grown tremendously in their Bible knowledge and their understanding of biblical truths. The staff and teachers have a special interest in the kids' spiritual well-being.”

Nampa Christian understands that they do not take the place of the family but simply come alongside parents and their church to help train up their children so the promise of Proverbs 22:6 can become a reality. By working together in partnership, students have the opportunity to see Deuteronomy 6 played out in their lives.

    Accredited Christian Education

Dr. Greg Wiles, superintendent of Nampa Christian Schools, often repeats the refrain “boldlyChristian, unquestionably academic.” He is dedicated to providing high-quality Christian education and training for the development of well-rounded students who will impact this world for the Lord Jesus Christ through biblical thought and action. Nampa Christian Schools is proud to maintain accreditation with the State of Idaho through AdvancED (www.advanc-ed.org) and the Association of Christian Schools International (www.acsi.org). The ACSI places spiritual formation at the core, and values such things as respect for authority, service, moral integrity, and character, as well as a life commitment to Christ and the church.

Parents Jeremy and Stacie Glassco offer a powerful testimony of the value of a decidedly Christian education:

“We are thankful our kids learn in the unique environment at Nampa Christian Schools where, in conjunction with their academics, they are encouraged to treasure God’s Word in their hearts. During these academic years, where they have minds eager for growth, Nampa Christian has been a special blessing for our family by working with our kids to help them set their moral compass and find faith in Jesus.”

That is what it’s all about. Education not just to teach, but to transform.

    Heart Transformation

Christian education is not only concerned about the head, but more importantly the heart. The late Howard Hendricks, long-time professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, made a profound statement in an article he wrote titled, “What Makes Christian Education Distinct?”

“In Christian education we deal with the transcendent. Secular education deals only with the human. Christian education discusses the eternal, secular education the here and now. Secular education seeks to make more successful and intelligent people. The Christian educator aspires to nothing less than the transformation of a believer into the image of Christ.” 2

Elementary-age students at Nampa Christian Schools pray together at chapel

Aspects of the Christian faith are integrated into every class that is taught. Faculty and staff all have a personal relationship with Christ. The morning begins with prayer. There are weekly chapel services. Students participate in community service and go on mission trips. God’s Word is included in the curriculum as well as athletics, the arts, and other extra-curricular activities. Young learners are encouraged to study the Bible and incorporate its teaching into their assignments. Rather than be discouraged from speaking about Jesus and the Scriptures, students are free to apply their faith to their learning.

Teachers are not merely teaching to inform the mind but to renew the mind. This is in keeping with Romans 12:2. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Martin Luther's words, spoken now almost 500 years ago, are borderline prophetic. In speaking of education in his time he said, “I would advise no one to send his child where the Holy Scriptures are not supreme. Every institution that does not unceasingly pursue the study of God's word becomes corrupt. I greatly fear that the universities, unless they teach the Holy Scriptures diligently and impress them on the young students, are wide gates to hell.” 3

More and more parents are acknowledging that Christian education provides one of the best avenues to ensure that their children spend their days in learning that advances their personal faith and not the opposite.

Nampa Christian Schools offers open enrollment for all ages, including early childhood (6 weeks - age 4), elementary school (PreK-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12). August 7, 2017 – On July 21-29, Nampa Christian Senior, Andrew Hilty, had the privilege of attending Boys Nation held in Washington DC. Andrew was chosen by the Nampa Post of the American Legion along with Guillermo Carreon, a student at Idaho Arts Charter School, as one of two senators sent to represent the state of Idaho. The two were selected out of 140 student delegates who attended Idaho's Boys State. To earn this spot, they had to go through an extensive interview, get a good recommendation from their counselor, deliver a speech, and win a run-off election of their peers. This all-expenses paid trip included meeting Congressmen, members of the Supreme Court, and even the President.

Boys Nation is an annual American Legion program that includes civic training, leadership development, and a focus on Americanism. At the national event, state senators learn all about the federal government. Upon arriving in DC, the senators were assigned to either the Federalist or the Nationalist party. Andrew was a Federalist for the state of Idaho, Guillermo a Nationalist. They started off with a caucus, then organized into committees and conducted hearings and debated bills submitted by other delegates. Some of the topics of the bills included health care, reforming the V.A., merit based welfare programs, and school choice. Andrew submitted a bill seeking to change Craters of the Moon National Monument to a National Park. His hope was that this measure would help increase tourism to the area among other benefits.

This was an incredible experience, according to Hilty, who found it fun and rewarding. He was extremely encouraged by the level of civil discourse and dialogue even among those with strong disagreements. Some of his takeaways included a greater appreciation for genuine political discourse, the need to leave politics off of social media, and the importance of elected officials being beholden to their constituents as well as their conscience.

Is politics in Andrew’s future? Possibly. He plans to attend Liberty University to become an attorney. He doesn’t see himself as a politician though, at least not how that term has come to be defined. Instead, he values the role of the statesman. He believes it is important to “get involved, but with that, get knowledge.”

One of the highlights included the opportunity to meet the President. President Trump addressed the students in the Rose Garden and Hilty was able to shake the President’s hand. Andrew said that all the delegates were honored to take in this special event. Despite many who may have had disagreements with the current President, they showed utmost respect for the office. That stood out in Andrew’s mind and was consistent with the level of respect he witnessed among the delegates the entire week. It left Andrew with a great hope for our country and its future leadership.

Nampa Christian pitcher Brandon Mullins (21) winds up for a pitch during Thursday’s game against Fruitland.

Nick Tuttle doesn’t remember exactly how many games Nampa Christian lost at the beginning of the season. He just knows it was a lot.

The two-time defending state champs lost their first three games and started 1-4, looking nothing like the team that rolled to a 25-3 record and a state title the previous season.

    “It was rough,” Tuttle recalled.

The young Trojans had just four seniors that played significant roles and struggled early to get results from a number of newcomers. The seniors also tried to pick up the slack themselves, which didn’t work.

“We weren’t playing very well,” said Nampa Christian coach Marc Harris, who just completed his 35th season leading the Trojans. “I think they were trying to play harder than they could because they had so many young guys they were trying to carry.

“I think a lot of people didn’t think we had enough talent to compete, but we just worked to take the talent we had and do the best we could.”

Nampa Christian won 11 of the next 13 games and began to look more like the championship team those in the Treasure Valley have grown accustomed to the past two-plus decades.

The rolled into the district tournament with a respectable 13-7 record after a sea-saw regular season saw them post three different winning streaks of at least five games.

They lost the first district game, and needed to win three consecutive games just to reach the state tournament. It was over from there.

The Trojans captured the championship magic at the perfect time, winning six straight do-or-die games to finish the season – including all three in the state tournament – to capture the school’s third consecutive 2A state title.

For their efforts, the Trojans are the Idaho Press-Tribune's 2016-2017 Sports Stars Spring Boys Team of the Year.

“We were really young and had a lot of learning curves at the beginning of the season, but everybody learned a lot and found their roles and we were able to pull it off,” said Tuttle, a senior and the starting shortstop on all three title teams.

“We got on the roller coaster and got to the top and just kept riding it out. Guys struggled early in the year but the bats came alive and the defense was great and the pitching didn’t make many mistakes.”

Nampa Christian finished 19-8 on the season and was led by seniors Tuttle, Tyler McConnell, Felix King, Brandon Mullins and Hunter Wollman.

It was the 23rd consecutive season that Nampa Christian qualified for state. During that stretch dating back to 1995 the Trojans have appeared in the title game 14 times and have nine championships.

The latest came thanks to a 14-10 win in the championship game over a Melba team that outscored them 11-1 in two losses earlier in the season.

“This is a legacy they can be proud of,” Harris said. “I told them after the game, ‘no matter what happens the rest of your life and what you do or don’t do, one day you were good enough to be a champion. That’s something nobody can ever take from you.’

    “It’s a pretty special feeling.”

    Especially with how things started.

Community Service Project Day is a chance for our secondary students to serve others, to promote a positive image of the youth at Nampa Christian in the community, and most importantly, to provide a chance to visibly display the love of Jesus to others. This can also be a great opportunity for the entire family to serve together and grow closer to each other!

Various groups will serve the community on this day in locations around the Treasure Valley. If you know of a local charity or non-profit that could benefit from Nampa Christian students working there for a day, please contact the office. Our Community Service Project Day takes a huge amount of organization, so the sooner we can get places identified and booked the better!

Nampa Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Coach Cassidy Kotte will assume the position of head varsity football coach beginning the 2017 season. Kotte will replace Coach Jerry Smith who is retiring from coaching. Smith served at Nampa Christian Schools in the capacity of assistant coach for eight years and head coach for two years.

Coach Kotte graduated from Clear Lake High School in Lakeport, CA in 1990. After graduation, he accepted a football scholarship to Sacramento State. A knee injury ended his playing career after two years, but that experience brought him to his faith in Jesus Christ. He continued his passion for the game & mentoring young men by coaching linebackers and JV defense at Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, CA from 1995 to 1996.

After moving to the Treasure Valley in 1997 with his wife Racquel, he continued to coach youth sports. He has coached his son Josiah and daughters, Amariah, Jael, and Ariel, in both baseball and soccer. In 2012, he was hired by Lee Leslie at Kuna High School as a defensive assistant and position coach. Two years later, in 2014, he accepted the Nampa Christian Middle School head coaching position. Kotte also teaches high school athletic development and middle school Bible classes.

In 2015, Kotte was hired by former Nampa Christian Head Coach Jerry Smith as the varsity defensive coordinator for the Trojans. Coach Kotte is focused on building on the strong football foundation laid at Nampa Christian and is determined to develop a football program based on faith and family while mentoring young men to grow in the Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s core values of integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence.

Coach Kotte lists famed football coaches Frosty Westering, Tom Osborne, and current coach Hugh Freeze as his greatest coaching influences.

Coach Kotte had this to say, “Nampa Christian is my home and I am blessed to be part of the family here - I look at this as a lifetime calling. I'm looking forward to working with the players, parents, staff, community and alumni to build something very special that will glorify God and further His Kingdom. We want to become the leading football program in the Treasure Valley.”

There’s a new excitement in the air for students at Nampa Christian Elementary School fueled by one thing: their new playground. The two play areas at the school are now equipped with a turf surface to keep the mud away.

Thanks to a generous lead gift by the Crawford family, along with substantial contributions from a group of Nampa Christian supporters, Nampa Christian will hold a special ceremony and balloon launch on Wednesday, May 18th to dedicate the new playground on the Elementary campus at 505 W. Orchard Ave. in Nampa. The dedication ceremony will take place at 10:10 a.m. officially naming the playground Crawford Playground.

“Crawford Playground is a blessing to all current and future Nampa Christian families.” Shared Nampa Christian Superintendent Dr. Greg Wiles. “This playground will provide additional fun to an excellent educational experience. We are honored for our donors and the hard work will contribute to our students' enjoyment for years to come.”

Class of 2010 was a tight knit group, we were like a family and I could easily say Daniel was a favorite among the group. Dan Shan, you will be greatly missed my friend.”

He replaces Bill Barr who resigned in December. Nampa Christian finished the last season 6-3.

    December 11, 2014
Nampa Christian Schools’ students have been working towards a lofty goal in their chapel offerings this school year. Along with an anonymous donor, the Elementary and Secondary campuses joined forces and came up with the entire amount necessary for one of their beloved teachers and his wife to fulfill their dream of adoption.

On Tuesday, December 16th at 10am the students will present teacher Josh Shatto and his wife Kylie (also a teacher) with a check for $31,175 to cover their adoption fees. The presentation of the check will occur in the gymnasium at the school’s Secondary campus on Flamingo Avenue during a special chapel with Middle and High School students combined.

Throughout the Shatto’s journey, they have overcome fertility issues and the ups and downs of uncertainty and heartbreak. They have tried for several years to adopt, but found the enormous amount of money needed prohibitive. Kyle Berkson, a fellow teacher at Nampa Christian introduced the Shatto’s journey to the students early in October during chapel while reflecting on his own adoption journey. “When my wife and I were trying to adopt, I could see the Shatto’s passion for adoption as well, said Berkson. Knowing the difficulty of raising funds, I was called by God to help them. It’s amazing how the Nampa Christian community stepped up, exceeding our $30,000 goal.”
