NCHS Track Team Brings Home Trophies

April 9, 2011: Portland Christian Invitational--
Recently, the Nampa Christian track teams traveled to Portland Christian High School in Portland, OR. Twenty-five 1A-3A High Schools participated. The Nampa Christian teams did quite well and brought home two team trophies and one individual trophy..jpg)
The 1st place Nampa Christian girl’s team earned a team trophy with a commanding 40 point lead over the 2nd place team. Most outstanding NCHS female athlete was Melissa Rohwer. She earned three 1st place medals (Triple Jump=37-04.50), (Long Jump=17-02.00),(4x100 m relay=52.41a) and made new Portland Christian Invitational records with her Triple Jump and Long Jump marks. She also placed 5th in the 100 m hurdles. Melissa was awarded "The Female Athlete of the Meet" trophy. Other impressive NCHS female athletes were: Courtney Schroeder with two 1st place medals (100
m hurdles=16.57) and (4x100 m relay=52.41a) plus a 2nd place medal (High Jump=4-08.00); Alison Silva with two 1st place medals (Pole Vault=10-06.0) and (4x100 m relay=52.41a) and a 4th place finish in the 100 meter dash; and Raquelle Mouw with a 1st place medal (4x100 m relay=52.41a), a third place medal (200 meter dash=27.95), and a 5th place finish (100 meter dash). The NCHS girls swept the Pole Vault by obtaining 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
The Nampa Christian boys team finished 4th place. Most outstanding NCHS male athlete was Tyler Rogers. He earned three 1st place medals (400 meter dash=52.34a), (4x100 m relay =46.09a), & (4 x 400 m relay= 3:41.71a) as well as a 3rd place medal (200 meter dash =23.18a). Other impressive NCHS male athletes were:Jacob Campbell with two 1st place medals (4x100 m relay =46.09a), & (4 x 400 m relay= 3:41.71a) plus a 6th place finish (300 m hurdles =45.59a); Austin Holton with two 1st place medals (4x100 m relay =46.09a), & (4 x 400 m relay= 3:41.71a) and a 10th place finish in 100 meter dash; Brandon May with a 1st place medal (4x100 m relay =46.09a) and a 8th place finish in the 800 m run; and Caleb Shannon with a 1st place (4 x 400 m relay= 3:41.71a), a tenth place finish for 400 meter dash, and a thirteenth place finish in 110 m hurdles.
Nampa Christian was also awarded the 1st place Girls and Boys Teams Combined scores trophy.
April 13, 2011: Parma Invitational
The Nampa Christian girls Track & Field team earned 1st place with 147 points--a commanding lead of 64.5 points over 2nd place. Leading the NC lady Trojans were Melissa Rohwer and Kylie Weatherford. Melissa received four 1st place medals (Triple Jump, Long Jump, 100 meter hurdles, and 4x100 meter relay). Melissa's fantastic Long Jump of 18' 06.75 at this meet topped the Nampa Christian girl's school record of 18' 4" set by Sarah Smith in 1999. Kylie also received four 1st place medals (Pole Vaule--tie for 1st, 400 meter dash, 4x200 meter relay, and 4x400 meter relay). Other amazing female NCHS athletes include: Alissa Weatherford (1st places in 4x100 meter relay, 4x200 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, and 2nd place in 300 meter hurdles); Courtney Schroeder (1st place 4x200 meter relay, 2nd place in both High Jump & 100 hurdles, and 4th place in 300 meter hurdles); Alison Silva (1st place 4x100 meter relay and tie for 1st in Pole vault); and Krystal DeLeon (1st place 4x400 meter relay, 3rd in both 800 meter and 1600 meter).
The Nampa Christian boys Track & Field team earned 3rd place with 65.6 points. The top four NCHS male athletes were Tyler Rogers (1st places in 400 meter dash & 4x200 meter relay, 2nd places in 200 meter dash & 4x100 meter relay); Brandon May (1st place 4x200 meter relay, 2nd place in 4x100 meter relay, and 6th place in 100 meter dash); Joey Hendershott (1st place in 4x200 meter relay and 4th place in 4x200 meter relay); and Jacob Campbell (1st place 4x200 meter relay and 4th place in 4x400 meter relay).
April 21, 2011--New Plymouth Invitational
The NCHS girl’s track & field team totally dominated with a winning score of 191.5 points--103.5 points above the 2nd place team! They swept the Pole Vault 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place. Two female athletes: Melissa Rohwer and Alissa Weatherford each earned four 1st place medals. Melissa led the way in Triple Jump, Long Jump, 100 meter hurdles, and 4x100 meter relay. Alissa was top scorer in 300 hurdles, 4x100 meter relay, 4x200 meter relay, and 4x400 meter relay. Kylie Weatherford, Alissa's sister, earned three 1st place medals (200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 4x200 meter relay) and a 2nd place medal in Pole Vault. Other outstanding lady Trojans were Raquelle Mouw (1st place in 4x100 meter relay and 4x200 meter relay, 2nd place in 200 meter dash, and 6th place in Triple Jump); Alison Silva (1st place in Pole Vault and 4x100 meter relay, 3rd place in 100 meter dash, and 7th place in 200 meter dash); Krystal DeLeon (1st place 4x400 meter relay, and 2nd place in both 800 meters and 1600 meters); and Courtney Schroeder (1st place 4x200 meter relay, 2nd place in High Jump, 4th place in 100 hurdles, and 6th place in 300 hurdles).

Outstanding NC trojan male athletes: Tyler Rogers (1st place in 200 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay, 2nd place in 400 meter dash, and 5th place in 100 meter dash); Brandon May (1st place in 4x100 meter relay and 4x200 meter relay, 2nd place in 100 meter dash, and 10th place in Long Jump; Jacob Campbell (1st place in 4x100 meter relay and 4x200 meter relay, and 7th place in 110 hurdles); and Joey Hendershott (1st place in 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay, 10th place in shot put, and 11th place in 200 meter dash).
