NAMPA CHRISTIAN HS STUDENTS RECEIVE NATIONAL LETTERS OF COMMENDATION FOR OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
November 21, 2011
Muriel Shannon (Caldwell) and Tyler Christianson (Meridian) both seniors at Nampa Christian High School, have been awarded a letter of commendation for their exceptional scores on the 2010 PSAT and National Merit Scholarship qualifying test. A certificate of achievement has been presented to them in honor of this achievement.
This past fall, Muriel and Tyler, along with approximately 50,000 of the highest ranked students were recognized from a pool of more than 1.5 million entrants. Out of these, only 34,000 students in the entire nation continue on to the point that Muriel and Tyler have. As part of being awarded the status of finalist, Muriel and Tyler each qualify to name two colleges or universities to which they would like to be referred by the National Merit Scholarship Committee. More information is available at www.nationalmerit.org.
Regarding these accomplishments, NCHS Principal Kevin Rex said, "As this honor represents only about 3 percent of the national population that took the test, we are very pleased with the accomplishments of Muriel and Tyler. Their marks represent the dedication they put toward their studies and the outstanding level of instruction they have received while at Nampa Christian Schools."
