Nampa Christian HS Chapel Ministries Provide Relief To Afghanistan

April 13, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:                                                                                                     4/12/11
Nampa Christian High School chapel ministries class recently sent a shipment of more than 30 boxes of school supplies to Afghanistan schools.  As part of the international focus for the quarter, Nampa Christian Bible teacher Jim Evenhouse said this was part of an outreach that would enable students in the chapel ministries class to see the value in helping organizations around the world. Nampa Christian alumnus Will Andrews (2001), 1st Lt. with the US Army, played a key part in notifying Nampa Christian of the need to send supplies for Afghan schools and facilitating the distribution in Afghanistan.

Donations of backpacks and school supplies were generously given from both middle school and high school NCS students, and a great deal of work went into the process of sending out the supplies.  Jim Evenhouse said each of the supplies had to be counted and tallied onto forms and then put into separate boxes.  The students in the chapel ministries class were helpful with organizing the supplies. These students included sophomore Samuel Antosh (Nampa), juniors Rachael Budahl (Nampa), Life Ilunga (Kuna), Robyn Mattox (Caldwell), Andy Rigenhagen (Nampa), T.J. Seaney(Kuna) and seniors Ryan Arendse (Meridian), Nick Bullock (Nampa), Mecala Burger (Nampa), Alexis MacDonald (Nampa), Mikayla Michaelson (Caldwell), Caitlin Roussopulos (Meridian ), Courtney Schroeder (Caldwell), Devin Shaul (Kuna), and Jacob Skaug (Nampa).

Bible Teacher Jim Evenhouse stated, “What was amazing about this whole thing, was that in addition to gathering the supplies, the over $400.00 in postage was also donated by students in the chapel offerings.”  As a part of the international focus this quarter, Nampa Christian chapel ministries have also been involved with volunteering their time at the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).

According to a press release from Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Gay, this was primarily part of an effort to help the Afghan police “to earn the respect and trust from the local people”.  To read his full press release and photos, visit the link at http://www.dvidshub.net/news/68516/afghan-police-mehtar-lam-assist-local
